The Story Behind Grit & Grain

Earning the title of United States Marine at age 18 set the foundation for everything I do. Serving honorably from 2000 to 2004 with deployments to Japan and Iraq taught me GRIT and the value of discipline, adaptability, and unwavering precision.

After service injuries led to my discharge, I spent a few years working through trade unions and eventually earning a degree in Computer Science and Information Security. That degree launched a 10-year career supporting high-stakes tech and defense environments for companies like Northrop Grumman and Bank of America. Later, I channeled my trades background into running a General Contracting Company in Colorado and Georgia.

In 2025, life presented a major pivot, a diagnosis of Systemic Mastocytosis required me to hang up my contractor’s tool belt, opening the door to turn a passion into my primary focus.

Woodworking has never been just a hobby for me. There is something irreplaceable about working with exotic hardwoods, taking time to honor the beauty & natural grain, and building heirloom-quality work. Grit & Grain Woodworks exists to deliver that exact standard—built with precision, backed by grit, and made to outlast us all.
